Clearly identifying and distinguishing Good from Bad parts gives a rapid visual identification of product status, and traceability. Probably the most common ‘Add-On’ to any non-destructive test system, there are a wide range of ways of marking your product.
Of course direct marking is not the only form of identification utilised, and self adhesive labels are now robust enough endure even the harshest environments. ION SYSTEMS has experience with most forms of marking/labelling systems, and can advise on what would be suitable for your product.
Simple Ink Markers
These simple to use devices use a simple rubber stamp pad which collects ink from the cartridge, transferring it to the component requiring the mark. Ink colours – Black, White, Yellow, Green, Red and Blue. The mark applied is selected from a wide range of standard stamp pads, including numbers, letters, and symbolic characters, but if something special is required, then please contact ION SYSTEMS who can advise.
Ink Spray Marking
These offer a non contact version of the Ink Pad by simply spraying a fine jet of ink onto the part. Again inks are available in many colours, but where product appearance is important, an invisible ink which is detected using UV light is used.
Dot/Stamp Punch Marking
A simple and cost effective way to imprint a permanent mark onto a hard surface. This type of mark can be a simple dot, or alternatively a date code can be punched on, with simple replacement characters.
Etch Marking
With this type of marking a wide range of data can be permanently marked onto hard surfaces. The marking units are programmable, and can mark a whole host of data including:
- Part Number
- Serial Number
- Date Codes
- Customer Logos
Label Printing
The soft version of the etch mark, allowing similar sorts of data to be placed on a hard wearing label, for attachment to the part that has met the ‘fit for purpose’ criteria.
